Li Auto Li 6: The i6 Gets a New Name for Europe
Sébastien L. · Published · Updated

Li Auto confirmed on 10 September 2026 that the i6 will be called Li 6 outside China. Twenty vehicles are already serving the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands. Its European debut is set for the Paris Motor Show in October, with sales planned for Q4 2026. The first countries, French availability, local prices and WLTP range remain unannounced.
This is a source-based analysis using manufacturer information and identified sources. Le Tech has not yet tested this vehicle.
The Li Auto i6 becomes Li 6 in Europe
Li 6 is the overseas name for the Li Auto i6. Li Auto confirmed the change on 10 September 2026 ahead of its European show debut, according to CnEVPost’s report of the announcement. The company has not explained why it dropped the “i”, so a marketing rationale would be speculation.
Li Auto i6, Li i6 and Li Auto Li 6 therefore refer to the same underlying battery-electric SUV. That does not establish identical Chinese and European trims, batteries or equipment. Buyers will need the European specification sheet to know what is actually offered locally.
The first Li 6 vehicles are already on European roads
Li Auto has moved from announcing European ambitions to operating a fleet on the ground. It has supplied 20 Li i6 vehicles for official courtesy transport at the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands, carrying players and VIP guests during the women’s golf event running from 7 to 13 September.
The company describes this partnership as the formal start of its European entry. These are event vehicles, not retail sales or customer deliveries. The official Solheim Cup Fan Village page independently lists Li Auto’s presence with a Li MEGA display; the figure of 20 i6 vehicles comes from the manufacturer announcement reported by CnEVPost.
European debut at the Paris Motor Show
The official exhibitor directory lists Li Auto in hall 5.1, stand A11. The event takes place at Paris Expo Porte de Versailles on 12–18 October 2026. Its published schedule reserves 12 October for accredited media; public opening runs from 13 to 18 October.
Li Auto says it will show the Li 6 for its European debut and reveal its global product line-up and European business plans. The exact presentation time and the display vehicle’s specification remain unannounced.
When will the Li 6 go on sale in Europe?
European sales are planned for Q4 2026, meaning October through December. This timing comes from Li Auto’s 26 August earnings call. The transcript also identifies battery-electric vehicles as its European priority. The 10 September news adds the international name and the first local operations.
The initial countries have not been named. Nor has Li Auto published precise order-opening or customer-delivery dates. A Paris reveal and the start of European sales are distinct milestones; the announcement does not establish availability in every European market.
Will the Li Auto Li 6 be sold in France?
A Paris appearance is confirmed; French retail availability is not officially announced as of 11 September 2026. French prices, an exact launch date and local sales and service coverage remain unpublished in the sources reviewed.
Readers elsewhere in Europe should apply the same country-by-country distinction. Neither the Paris show location nor a Dutch courtesy fleet establishes which countries will take orders first.
A new Li i6 is arriving just before the European launch
On 7 September, Li Auto announced a 2026 Li i6 for China with an in-house-developed 5C battery and Mach chip. According to CnEVPost’s report of the manufacturer’s announcement, Chinese pre-orders are due to open in late September, with deliveries beginning in early November.
“In-house developed” refers to Li Auto’s work on cell definition, the pack and battery-management system even where an industrial partner manufactures cells. The Mach chip supports driver-assistance processing. The 7 September announcement does not state the updated i6 pack’s capacity or chemistry.
Plausible is not confirmed: the Chinese 2026 model schedule overlaps the European launch. Li Auto may therefore show or sell the updated configuration in Paris, but none of the reviewed sources guarantees the same battery, chip or specification for Europe.
Battery and range: Chinese figures need context
| Data | China i6 | Europe Li 6 | Status |

| 2026 update | Li Auto-developed 5C battery and Mach chip announced | Adoption unconfirmed | Timing-based hypothesis only |
On a small screen, scroll the table horizontally to see all columns.
The manufacturer’s Chinese product release and MIIT-derived regulatory data establish an 87.3 kWh pack and 660–720 km CLTC range for the current model. CLTC is not the WLTP procedure used for European range certification. We therefore do not convert 720 km CLTC into a made-up WLTP number.
5C charging: what is actually known?
The “500 km in 10 minutes” statement describes CLTC-rated range added under Li Auto’s conditions, on a compatible charger and for rear-wheel drive. It is not a full charge in ten minutes or evidence that a European charger will reproduce the same curve. Usable capacity, charge window, sustained power and European preconditioning remain undocumented.
Power and performance
The current Chinese rear-wheel-drive i6 produces 250 kW and 425 Nm, with a claimed 6.5-second 0–100 km/h time. The all-wheel-drive option combines a 150 kW front motor with the 250 kW rear motor for 400 kW and 660 Nm, with a claimed 4.5-second sprint. These are Chinese manufacturer figures, not Le Tech measurements.
European weight, tyres, output and calibration remain unconfirmed. It would be premature to promise these acceleration figures for every European trim.
Dimensions and cabin
| Measurement | China-market Li Auto i6 |
|---|---|
| Length × width × height | 4,950 × 1,935 × 1,655 mm |
| Wheelbase | 3,000 mm |
| Seats | 5 |
| Wheels | 20-inch standard; 21-inch optional in China |
At almost 4.95 metres long with a 3-metre wheelbase, the i6 is a large five-seat SUV. Li Auto highlights cabin length and equips the Chinese car with heated Nappa seats, ventilation for four occupants and front-seat massage functions. European upholstery, screens, equipment and luggage capacity need confirmation in local documentation.
Technology and driver assistance
The China-market i6 launched in 2025 includes AD Max, an Nvidia Drive Thor-U processor, lidar and Li Auto’s VLA software model. The 2026 version is due to adopt the in-house Mach chip. These are driver-assistance technologies whose functions, approval and operating conditions depend on the market.
We do not describe the system as autonomous driving. Europe’s sensor suite, launch-day functions, software support, connectivity and data-protection arrangements remain unknown.
What will the Li 6 cost in Europe?
The official Chinese launch release set the historical rear-wheel-drive starting price at RMB249,800 in September 2025. All-wheel drive was an extra-cost option in that market. The figure reflects a Chinese specification and market.
This amount is not an estimate of the future European price. No European or French price has been announced. A currency conversion would omit VAT, tariffs, freight, approval costs, warranty, distribution margin, equipment and local commercial policy.
Against the Tesla Model Y, XPeng G6 and Zeekr 7X
The i6 will need to be assessed against locally sold electric SUVs. The table gives manufacturer-published European reference points checked on 8 September; it deliberately avoids comparing CLTC and WLTP as though they were the same test.
| Model | Published reference points | What it clarifies |
|---|---|---|
| Li Auto Li 6 (i6) | 4.95 m; China: 87.3 kWh, up to 720 km CLTC, 5C | European price, WLTP, CCS and network unknown |
| Tesla Model Y | About 4.79 m; up to 603 km WLTP; Supercharging up to 250 kW by version | Established network and shorter body |
| XPENG G6 | 4.758 m; up to 525 km WLTP; up to 382 kW and claimed 10–80% in 12 min | An 800 V SUV sold in France |
| Zeekr 7X | 4.787 m; 75 or 100 kWh; up to 615 km WLTP; 10–80% in 13–16 min | An 800 V premium SUV sold in Europe |
The Model Y is a useful scale and efficiency benchmark; the XPENG G6 and Zeekr 7X provide locally rated fast-charging comparisons. Without an i6 European price or homologation, however, no responsible value, real-range or charging verdict is possible.

Our analysis
Le Tech has not driven the Li Auto Li 6. This is a source-based analysis of manufacturer information, Chinese regulatory data and the European announcements currently available.
The manufacturer’s 7 and 10 September announcements are attributed here through CnEVPost because their primary publications were not directly accessible during this update. The show dates and stand were checked with the organiser. These sources do not establish an independent road test or measured performance.
On its Chinese specification, the i6 combines a large five-seat cabin, a comparatively restrained battery size for its footprint and very rapid charging on suitable infrastructure. European relevance will depend on how Li Auto translates that package: WLTP approval, CCS charging, localised software, service and price matter more than the headline CLTC number.
The Li 6 name, Dutch fleet and Paris stand now give the European project a visible presence. Buyers still need the country list, local specifications and service arrangements to assess it. An in-house battery and chip could affect cost, charging behaviour and assistance features, but benefits must be measured on the version actually imported. This URL will be updated when Li Auto confirms countries, France, prices, WLTP range, the European battery, CCS charging, trims, warranty or its retail network.
