XPENG G9L Is Coming to Europe: What We Know Before Paris

The XPENG G9L launched in China on 17 September 2026. XPENG confirms a global launch at the Paris Motor Show on 12 October, a planned roll-out across 64 countries and regions, and production in Guangzhou and at Magna in Graz. As of 18 September, however, it has announced no European price, WLTP range, French line-up, order date or customer-delivery date.

The G9L officially launched in China on 17 September

XPENG launched the G9L in China on 17 September 2026 with four battery-electric and two range-extended variants. The official XPENG China launch report lists the six launch offers; the 18 September international release then confirms the Chinese launch and the next global milestone.

All ranges, powertrains and prices below describe the China-market vehicle. They are not a European specification, a WLTP approval or a European price estimate.

Global launch confirmed in Paris on 12 October

XPENG will hold the G9L global launch on 12 October 2026 at the Paris Motor Show, hall 6. It says the vehicle is intended for 64 countries and regions and describes France as the first stop in its international introduction.

That confirms a global presentation in France. It does not say that French orders open that day or that all 64 markets launch simultaneously. A motor-show reveal, order opening and first customer delivery are separate milestones.

The G9L will be produced in Europe by Magna in Graz

XPENG announces production in Guangzhou, China, and at Magna’s Graz plant in Austria. The G9L is due to become the fourth XPENG made in Europe after the G6, G9 and P7+. The industrial location is confirmed; the factory supplying each country is not.

European assembly also does not establish the origin of every component, production volumes, start-of-production dates or eligibility for a national incentive. Those require separate evidence.

XPENG says the architecture was designed for international deployment and road-tested across 26 countries and regions. That establishes its development intent, not the homologated specification of a European version.

China-market vehicle: four battery-electric G9Ls

The Chinese BEV range includes a rear-wheel-drive 702 Max and three all-wheel-drive versions. XPENG quotes 660, 702 or 755 km CLTC depending on variant. Some AWD versions are claimed to reach 0–100 km/h in about 4.45 seconds.

CLTC is the Chinese test cycle. There is no defensible universal factor for converting it into WLTP because the protocol, use and specification differ. We therefore do not invent a WLTP number. Battery, output and performance for future European versions remain unpublished.

China-market vehicle: two range-extender G9Ls

The two Chinese REEVs use a 1.5-litre petrol engine as a range extender, a 63.3 kWh battery and all-wheel drive. XPENG claims up to 435 km electric CLTC range and 1,602 km combined CLTC range.

Combined range uses battery energy and fuel; it is not electric range. A REEV is not a battery-only vehicle either. XPENG has not yet announced whether France will receive BEVs, REEVs or both.

China-market vehicle: 800 V, 5C and a claimed 11-minute 10–80% charge

XPENG gives the entire Chinese range an 800 V architecture and 5C charging. Its published claims include more than 300 km CLTC added in nine minutes for the REEV and more than 450 km CLTC for the BEV; CnEVPost reports about 11 minutes from 10% to 80%.

Those figures answer different questions: range added over time versus a state-of-charge window. Both remain manufacturer claims under compatible conditions and charging hardware. They do not establish European peak power, the full charging curve, cold-weather performance or the result at every charger.

China-market vehicle: RMB241,800 to RMB319,800

Official Chinese guide prices run from RMB241,800 to RMB319,800. Limited-time launch offers range from RMB231,800 to RMB309,800; XPENG China ties them to a local promotional window. Each amount belongs to a particular variant in the Chinese market.

We do not convert these amounts into euros to predict a European price. A currency conversion would omit VAT, tariffs, freight, approval, warranty, distribution, equipment and local commercial policy.

What is already confirmed for Europe

The firm ground consists of four points: a 12 October global launch in Paris, a target of 64 markets, production in Graz and engineering intended for multiple regions. XPENG also says the G9L will join the G6, G9 and P7+ on Magna’s European production lines.

The international release confirms that the G9L exists as both BEV and REEV, but it does not assign either powertrain to a particular country. Two Chinese powertrain choices do not automatically become the European range.

What remains unknown for France

Unannounced to date: French and European prices, WLTP range, European batteries, the BEV or REEV versions actually sold in France, seating, trims, equipment, incentive eligibility, order opening, first deliveries, local warranty, charging tariffs and final European performance.

A national announcement, configurator or price list is needed to answer those questions. Until then, the Chinese figures help explain the technology but do not define a French retail offer.

What Paris should clarify

The 12 October event should primarily identify the global or European display specification: powertrain, battery, connector and charging, seating, safety equipment, localised software and initial sales regions. Pricing and a French timetable could be announced in Paris, but XPENG’s 18 September release does not promise either.

The decisive evidence will be a WLTP rating, local model line-up and sales and service arrangements. Without them, any value verdict or long-distance assessment would be premature.

Le Tech methodology

Le Tech has neither seen nor driven the XPENG G9L. This page’s visual is an original illustration, not a photograph taken at the Paris Motor Show.

We checked XPENG’s 18 September international release against its official 17 September Chinese launch and China product page. CnEVPost is used only to complete the six-variant breakdown, guide prices and 10–80% charging window. Every Chinese figure is labelled; no CLTC-to-WLTP or RMB-to-European-price conversion is offered.
